A research team headed by Assistant Professor FUJIWARA Yuichiro, Professor OKAMURA Yasushi (Integrative Physiology, Graduate School of Medicine & Frontier Biosciences, Osaka University), and Professor NAKAGAWA Atsushi (Institute for Protein Research) has elucidated how our bodies get rid of bacteria pathogens, on the atomic level, through the joint action of paired protein mediating hydrogen ion gating in raising body temperature and controlling the pH level of the body. This is an important discovery beyond the fact that it clarifies how the body defends itself from infection by giving us a fever.

To learn more about this important discovery, please read the full research report entitled " The cytoplasmic coiled-coil mediates cooperative gating temperature sensitivity in the voltage-gated H+ channel Hv1 " at this page of the Nature Communications website.
