Program for developing Human Resources for art festivals in cooperation with theaters, concert halls, and art museums

Aug 26, 2013

The Graduate School of Letters , the Center for the Study of Communication-Design , and the Osaka School of International Public Policy are jointly sponsoring a human resource development program, " Program for cultivating personnel for art festivals in cooperation with theaters, concert halls, and art museums -- " Art Festivals that give 'voice to the voiceless, voice to that which is everywhere, and give voice to my voice ' " in September 2013.

It's very rare for a university to host an art festival so this program does not simply aim to cultivate practical management skills for art festivals, but train personnel who can be involved in the overall planning and management based on their understanding of the concepts and content of art festivals.

Currently, culture halls and institutions in the countryside don't need persons highly specialized in a certain category, but generalists who can plan and manage art performances in accordance with local needs. Thus, this program aims to develop management skills for all genres of art by having enrollees participate in planning and management of different events in an art festival while learning about the characteristics of various art projects from the people in charge of those projects.

Seminars and workshops will be held mainly on Saturdays and Sundays during this academic year for next year's art festival on themes of memory, democracy, and individuality. This course features a variety of programs, covering a wide range of modern art: theater, music, fine art, and performance, aiming to cultivate personnel with management skills of all types of art.
